Solitude

Luke 8:22-25 23 A squall came down on the lake, so that the boat was being swamped, and they were in great danger.

Luke 8:22-25
23 A squall came down on the lake,
so that the boat was being swamped,
and they were in great danger. (NIV)

Why is it that
I feel You
not in quiet
but in the merciless

solitude

of a thrashing stormy sea?
Waves smashing against basalt
spraying saline to the wind,
foaming at my feet
Thunderheads throwing themselves
towards high ground
Threatening, but tempered
by the golden glow
of the fiery furnace
setting in the west
